Losing a friend . . .

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 13, 2009, 8:06 AM
  • Mood: Sadness
This is a copy of the post I made at JAB's this morning.

. . .

I'm struggling to find the words here, as I received terrible news this morning . . .

One of our forum members and good friends, Doc Army, has passed away.

I'd been concerned by his disappearance for quite some time, hoping it was just another case of someone simply taking a break from being online. I'm . . . still in shock. He was such a bright, humorous guy, and far too young for this to have happened. I know that many of us used to have such a great time talking to him in chat and he was a lot of fun in the forum too. He'll be greatly missed.

I'll leave this with the last line he wrote in his dA journal, as it somehow seems fitting . . .

"So be cool mein friends and save the anger for the important things. life's too short"

. . .

I'm sure several of you here at dA knew :icondocarmy: as well. I used to have a blast talking to him about old cartoons, pirates, and bad anime; he even threw gentle advice at me when I was trying to figure out some real-life stuff.

So now I'm realizing that he never got the last message I sent him on Christmas Eve, and I don't even know if he saw the one before it; they're both still on the front of his dA page. I never met him face-to-face but he did indeed touch my life. It just . . . it all just makes me hurt inside to know that he's no longer with us. . .

i'm sorry for your loss. i didn't know him but Doc Army sounded like a pretty cool guy to talk with. i recently read an article on how to deal with the passing of online friends, it's tough because any long absence is considered taking a break, only to discover that they are no longer with us. we should all take comfort in what he wrote in his dA journal. -trinity

I lost a friend like that. She didn't reply on my e-mails. And then I saw the message on her website. We had plans to go to Australia, since we where both avid mad max fans. She'd already went there a couple of times. Sadly I never got to. It has been 5 years now, and still a mad max fan. Hell, I even have one of the URL's she had in her possession.

So I undertand your pain and you and his other friends/family have my deepest sympathies.

I'm sorry about your loss...it's hard losing an online friend I suppose. I used to read stories at Fanfiction.net by a certain author. I loved her stories, corresponded with her a couple of times I believe and she was very popular for her writing. All of a sudden it went very quiet, no more updates etc. until a friend of mine who was also very fond of her stories pointed out a message on her profile to me. It was from her parents saying that the young woman had died of an acute case of pneumonia. So weird to suddenly see someone disappear like that. Well...I'm babbling now so goodluck but I'm sure you'll get through

I remember him from long ago when I used to go to JAB forums :(

I know since you didn't state this already, I probably shouldn't ask, but being the age he was...what did it? :/

Anyway,*hugs* to all who knew him :(

That really grinds when someone who's made such an impact on your live leaves us forever, but just remember that the things he said and did that shaped your life means he had an enriching effect on our world. Such a life is never a waste. I'm sure there's a special place for him.
